Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

help needed: remove all additional software (to get "fresh" system)

Dear all,

I successfully installed fun_plug and optware some time ago.
So I played around a little bit and installed some things, I better not have done.
Now my system is not working correctly anymore.
Additionally it is running out of memory.

e.g. when I log in via putty and ssh, a simple "ls -l" gives me the following error: "ls: can't load library 'libintl.so.3'"

Is it possible to simply remove all installed additional software on my DNS 323, so that I get a "fresh" system again?

Of course it would be great to have all my data afterwards ;-)

Thanks for any help.
Gerhard

Re: help needed: remove all additional software (to get "fresh" system)

Remove \\Volume_1\fun_plug and reboot and it will run nothing but the bog standard d-link software.  If memory is the primary issue that will disable all the fun_plug functionality.

You can then remove the software from disk by deleting the respective directories:

Remove \\Volume_1\ffp to remove fonz fun plug
\\Volume_1\fun_plug.d to remove funplug_manger
\\Volume_1\altf to remove altf
and if I recall \\Volume_1\opt will remove optware

Removing a debian reloaded install is a bit more difficult since it essentially acts like the entire disk is it's own and puts files in a number of directories off the root of the disk.

Re: help needed: remove all additional software (to get "fresh" system)

Thanks a lot.
I tried it and it worked quite well.

After reinstalling fun_plug, I tried to install alt-f.

But now I get the following error when copying the file "Alt-F-0.1B7.tar" to "/"
write error: No space left on device

"ls -l" on '/" gives:

How could I increase the free space on "/"?

Thanks in advance and best regards

Re: help needed: remove all additional software (to get "fresh" system)

"/" is found in the root file system which is an in-memory (ram disk) file system.  As you can see from your df output, it is about 10,000 1K blocks.

The bulk of your hard disk is found under /mnt/HD_a2, where you will find more space, which is also persistent.  The root in-memory file system is not persistent.

You should copy that tar file to someplace under /mnt/HD_a2, or just leave it there if it already is there.  You should be able to install Alt-F without having to copy it to /.
