Hey guys,
fairly new here. I have bought a DNS-323 with two WD 2TB black caviar drives as network storage for the small AD I have set up. I want to use the 2008R2 AD functionality with Win7 clients.
The DNS shall host the shared network drives.
The problem I am running into is that 2008R2 does not support the "weak" encryption the DNS is using anymore "by design" (from the Microsoft web page).
Solution:
Install a newer version of samba with AD support (Kerberos, LDAP, winbind) required.
Has this been done? I have been searching the web now for several days and could not find anything.
I am a fairly noob to linux, so I am hesitant on compiling my own packages, at least without guidance. I have installed the ffp and all packages, as in the guides suggested.
Can you guys help me and walk me thru the installation?
I found this guide on how to integrate samba3 into a 2008R2 AD: Using-Samba-3-Client-Technology-and-Kerberos-for-Win2k8-AD-Based-Identity-Management
I started off with kerberos. Running the config script, I am getting the error that perl is not found on my box. I kind of fear, I am about to open pandorras box here.
So I figured, I ask into the round here for some info.
Thanks guys,
