Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

I have been consuming the info on the Wiki and forums now for a number of weeks in the hope of improving my home setup for serving media files. Kudos to you all for the excellent info. As a newbie Linux person, I very much appreciate the experience shared on these forums.
Having tried the EVA700 with the UPnP server out of the box with the DNS-323, I can report that it is a solid if miserable experience. Solid because it works and miserable only because of the interface which is clunky and bordering on unusable by a non-techie consumer. This is down to the EVA700 rather than the DNS-323 but I have found some hope.
I have tested with MyiHome and Neolink Server running on XP, both variants of the same media server from Syabas and it cures most of the ills. The remote works really well with the interface, even the shortcut buttons work! My mission now is to find a variant of this server that I can run on my DNS-323. There is apparently a linux variant of MyiHome but as it only appears to be supplied with OEM equipment, I haven't been able to find an install image.
I realise that I am looking to address EVA700 shortcomings here. I really like my DNS-323 and having managed to fun-plug it, I am looking forward to expanding its capabilities including hopefully a UPnP server that my wife and kids can use through the EVA700.
Any pointers to a comparable media server that will run on the DNS-323 would be most welcome. I have tried Wizd and Twonky but neither give the same fluid user experience as MyiHome.
Thanks.
