No external acces to DNS 323 (HTTP/FTP)

A few months ago I moved to a new house and transferred my complete network. The network setup is the same, only the modem is different. A few days after the move I wasn't able to acces the DNS-323 from an external source. Once in the network itself it works fine, but using the external IP the FTP, HTTP and Transmission remote GUI aren't accessible.

A college told me to check the DNS settings, but they are fine and set as DHCP client with the correct DNS-server 1.

I've run out of options I'm aware of and the only option I see now is resetting the complete thing where I'll lose a lot of settings. Does anyone of you maybe know a solution to this problem?

External access to my laptop and another PC are fine.

Re: No external acces to DNS 323 (HTTP/FTP)

There are several possible problem areas, and the DNS-323 is not very high on the list - don't reset it just yet.

You say the network setup is the same only the modem is different - does that mean you are using the same router as you were before?

If you are, then the problem is unlikely to be internal to the network - so login to the router and find what it shows your WAN address to be - if it starts with 10.10., 172.16., or 192.168 - then it's not a modem, but a modem/router - and will need to be put into "bridged mode" or configured to place you router in the DMZ.

Re: No external acces to DNS 323 (HTTP/FTP)

Yes I'm still using a WNDR3700 in Bridged mode. And the ports for FTP/HTTP/Transmission remote GUI are forwarded to the DNS-323. The strange thing is that I'm connectable for Transmission, I just can't enter the remote GUI.

When forwarding the same ports to my laptop the services are working. Changing the ports on the DNS-323 and editting the forwarding rule don't make the service reachable sad

Re: No external acces to DNS 323 (HTTP/FTP)

The services running on the DNS-323 are accessible from the LAN, but not externally; the same ports forwarded to a laptop are accessible externally.

Does the DNS-323 have a static ip address?  Is the default gateway set correctly?

Yes it has a static IP assigned from the router, the NAS itself is set as a DHCP client so no static IP there.

When forwarding the same ports to my laptop the services are working.

Did you test this from outside? Or did you use your public IP from inside?

I did use the public IP from the inside yes. I thought that was enough and even the DNS 323 doesn't work when using the external IP from the inside.

Your router may not support loop back - it would be better if you tested from outside the network.
