Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Anyone try out the new Boxee Box by D-Link and the DNS-323? Would be great if a fun-plug could be developped for it as well. It's hacker friendly and there are rumours that it can allow XBMC to run off of it.

That would be pretty awesome. I'm considering buying a Boxee so it would be great if I could just run the software off my 323.

Don't know where you're getting your information but the actual Boxee Box by Dlink is not at all hacker friendly. It also can't run XBMC. DLink has really locked down the box. Any images or firmwares you install to it have to be signed. SSH was able to be enabled in the beginning but when they found out people were doing that they made it so you can't even SSH in anymore.

I wonder why did D-Link change the policy.

Streaming media copyright protection is the most likely reason.

anyhow i got rid of the boxee box- it's clunky, slow and not hacker friendly as mentioned above. i just connect my laptop to my plasma via hdmi and stream away all files from my dns without a problem. add in a wireless keyboard and integrated mouse/trackball and i'm set. the best internet browsing experience so far, youtube included. the laptop may not stream 1080 but there's always the ps3 for that.
