Hi,
I have a DNS-323 plus 2x1 disks in RAID 1 (1,5To).
I would like to know if it's possible to use an USB disk and make an automatic backup of all RAID data on the USB disk on a scheduling basis (all nights for example) ?
What should I add to the DNS-323 to make this possible ?
Thanks.

Load the usb driver usb-storage.ko, mount the disk then use rsync to copy the data. Create a cron job to schedule it on a regular basis.

Thanks.
Does that need something ?
Telnet access or other things ?

It sure does.

Both.

Ok for the memories :
- You need telnet access : http://dns323.kood.org/howto:telnet
- You need to add usb-storage.ko and mount the drive : http://dns323.kood.org/howto:external_drive (i've used http://www.domaigne.com/download/dns-323/)
- Add rsync with fun plug : http://dns323.kood.org/howto:backup

nice trolling...
I think the point here is that you had enough info to search and find the details. You obviously did since you found some links. There wan't much point in reposting every detail in this thread. With some research you will learn and be able to set it up exactly as YOU want and will be able to troubleshoot it should you need to change or fix something rather than have it spelled out for you.
Good job on finding the links.

Thank you, FunFiler.
@sioban: If you'll take a look at some of my posts it will be apparent that I'm no troll. I'll gladly help, but if you, or anyone else, for that matter, like me to spend time and effort look things up (which, by the way any, one can do) and explaining them I'd rather see you're a bit vested in the matter. Asking non-specific, short, general questions is a sure-fire way to make me think/suspect that my time is best spend elsewhere.

hum surely.
Do you expect someone read the entire Internet before asking a question ?
I was nos asking for a full tutorial but rather some direction.
Pointing me to "Hey the wiki has all what you need" rather than pointless answers would have been a lot more friendly.
And happily I'm a not stupid and found the answers myself, but what the point of a forum if we can't ask questions and expect constructives answers ?!?

Absolutely not. But searching a forum or goggling a bit - that is reasonable to ask, isn't it? Why do you expect complete strangers to answer your questions?

...and you got just that in FunFiler first answer.

... But then, instead of specific questions you ask "Does that need something ?". Sorry, but to me it seemed like you didn't make any effort to figure it out. You're expecting a constructive answer, but you couldn't be bothered to construct a question.
And good luck with your USB/rsync project. If you'd have searched the forum you might've found some of my modest contributions on these matters.

Didn't look at your contribution except if they are in the wiki.
(pointing me to them would have been great too)...
USB/rsyncing is working well now, thanks.

Glad to hear that. My modest contributions:
