SMB - create mask has no effect - files always 777

Hi

I need help with this one. I've got ffp 0.5 and Ive got customised smb.conf by copying it over and restarting smb. I can't believe whats happening. For some reason anything I do with create mask, force create mode etc. does not work. My files are always 777. I have also set directory mask and force directory mode and that behaviour is perfect..

Any ideas?

PS. I'm a seasoned technical consultant and am baffled at this. It feels like a samba bug, but I'm not sure.

Re: SMB - create mask has no effect - files always 777

Hi

I couldn't make this work and I do this for my job. It looks like a samba bug or an interface issue with the raid driver setup. The filesystem doesn't look like ect2 or ext3 and I imagine the samba is having trouble dealing with this.

I even checked the umask. Anyway that bettersamba guide is wrong I think as I can't see how you can use a create mask of 0770, unless the raid setup forces the create maskt o stop working. I think non-raid does make use of ext3 or ext3 which would be better for samba as they are the default for most linux distros.

Never mind...
