rsync 3.0.9

Hi fonz,

Would it be possible to upgrade rsync to version 3.0.9 (http://rsync.samba.org/) in ffp 0.5?

Thank you very much!

Re: rsync 3.0.9

Is fun_plug being maintained?

Is this forum active?

Is it worth it spending time on installing and using fun_plug on DNS-323/343/3**?

Re: rsync 3.0.9

Try to build it yourself. Rsync surly already have a build script. here is a link to a great walkthrough howto build
ffp packages. It is not so hard. I have used this guide before and I can try to help you.

I no longer have a ffp environment using debian nowdays.

Re: rsync 3.0.9

Thank you so much, fonz!!!

Been running and testing the new version for a few days now and it works extremely smoothly.  I no longer see discard warnings in my rsync log file, which is fantastic news.

Re: rsync 3.0.9

I have a problem with the latest version of rsync. Cannot start it in daemon mode at all. It starts, but the process is not present at all. I have no idea what the problem is. The client version works just fine, as well as rsync 3.0.5 which I had before (but can't get back now?)

I have funpkg-0.5-4.tgz, ffp-base-0.5.1, libiconv-1.12-3.tgz, and uclibc-0.9.29-7. Using a CH3SNAS.
Can anyone help? Or maybe provide me with the older version?

Re: rsync 3.0.9

To quote myself.... because I have solved the problem...
rsyncd was absolutely silent. No output at all. Then I found an option to override the log file where it said:

2011/11/18 18:55:07 [23321] rsyncd version 3.0.9 starting, listening on port 5000
2011/11/18 18:55:07 [23321] rsync: listen() on socket failed: Address already in use (98)
2011/11/18 18:55:07 [23321] Try using --ipv4 or --ipv6 to avoid this listen() error.
2011/11/18 18:55:07 [23321] rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at socket.c(568) [Receiver=3.0.9]

Well, great! You could've told me this before! So I added --ipv4 and *magic* it works. Thank you rsync for not telling anywhere in the changes that I have to use ipv4/ipv6 now sad
