Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.
You are not logged in.
I can access my DNS 323 (FW 1.08, fun-plug 0,5, rsnapshot, anacronism, 2 x JBOD, HDD-Powersave 5 min) only for a few Minutes via Samba.
After that HDD-LEDs change their color to something like purple, there is a log "HDDx Hard Drive Has Removed." and a growing number of /sys/mtd[1,2]-mounts. I can access the HD-Mounts however from a local shell
smb restart solves the problem of the crashed smbd for the moment but the LED-Color does not change back no normal blue.
I could not get samba to log anything.
Did someone experience similar effects? Would reset to factory do any difference ? Can this be done without reformating the disks?
Any hint would be great. Can someone explain (sorry for the stupid questions)
- what the mtd-devices are for and
- how a systemservice like samba is started at all by the firmware
- by what condition the LED-Color is changed
Thanks

Purple LED often indicates the root file system (includes /tmp) is full. You may have to reconfigure your apps to use a different path. The internal programs also use /tmp to check the drive status so that is likely why it is reporting a removed drive, since it can't write the file.
