Backing up the back-up

Hi, so I have my time machine-type backup working now and I want to backup the 'current' backup to the Amazon S3 service.

I want to use s3cmd to interface with S3 and duplicity to do the backup. I use a similar system for my webserver and it works well.

I found this blog post that was quite helpful:

http://www.drak0.com/2008/06/09/dns323- … kup-bliss/

problem is that there seems to be a bug in boto. I install all the packages and get the error

duplicity.backends.BackendException: Boto requires a bucket name.

I googled and it seems to be a bug that's been fixed.

So: how do I turn the latest version of boto (from http://code.google.com/p/boto/ ) into a package I can install with funpkg ...?

thanks

Richard

Re: Backing up the back-up

...ok scratch this, it seems duplicity doesn't support hard links, upon which the time machine depends!

I'll have to think of something else.

thanks anyway.
