Anyone do setup via XP on Parallels (OS X)?

Having trouble getting the D-Link Easy Search Utility to see the 323. I've played around with a million configs in OS X and XP, to no avail.

Hi Instamattic:

More details please - i.e. network configuration; has the DNS been accessible before; Firmware version; easy search version Can you ping it at its ip? Can you open its configuration panel in your browser. etc etc.

I don't know its IP. I'm at Step 0.

I don't know if the DNS has been accessed before, or what that means. I don't know the firmware version currently on the 323. Easy Search is v2.2.0.0.

Hi Insta - can you tell us your network configuration? I assume router rather than a direct connection to your computer? Your router should have an  "attached devices" table that will tell you the ip of your DNS. If you can't access your router, tell us the make/model and we can guide you.
By the way - down load the updated easysearch (3.5?) from DLink - always helps. smile

Re: Anyone do setup via XP on Parallels (OS X)?

I just purchased a Dlink-323 3 days ago and installed it to my system as a file and print server. My system is composed of 2 laptops (Hp Pavilion and Macbook),a multi-function printer (HP Deskjet F380),  the NAS (Dlink-323 with 2x500 Samsung SATA2) and a wireless router (Dlink Dl-624). I have succesfully installed all the components but failed in printing with the Macbook thru the NAS as print server. I would like to know the proper way of solving this problem. Please advise.

My network configuration -- that's the catch. I don't have a router. I'm going Mac <-> 323 straight in, which makes this process much harder than it should be, I'm guessing.

I'm working with a Mac forum to get the list of DHCP clients that my Mac is giving out ( http://www.appleswitcher.com/viewtopic.php?t=31497 )

I'll let this forum know what I find, or I'll give up and borrow a router for the 323 setup.

I'll d/l the latest easysearch. Thanks!

Instamattic - see this thread/post - may help - http://dns323.kood.org/forum/p4513-2007 … html#p4513

As a direct connection (or otherwise!) you need to know your Macs IP and have it on the same subnet as the DNS.
Afraid I can't tell you how to ID the MACs ip without a router ( I am <shudder> a Windows person ATM - LINUX here I come big_smile ) .
The above link will show you the likely "default" ip of the DNS (192.168.0.32) assuming your computer is NOT acting as a DHCP server . Typing that into your browser (with no out going proxy server configured) should access you DNS IF your Mac is on the same subnet.

BTW You are using a crossover cable for the connection aren't you?..........
