Using different drives in RAID1 config, & Alt-F (just making sure)

Hi, I just wanted to make sure that i wasn't going to make a $170 mistake. I have a Hitachi HDS5C3030ALA630 (3tb drv) that I want to put in my DNS-323 after I install Alt-F. After reading and rereading alt-f posts, faqs, etc I am fairly confident that it can handle a 3tb drive. What i am slightly less sure about is using different drives. While i have one Hitachi I don't have another one so what i was considering doing is purchasing another 3tb drive (newegg has an ok seagate for about $170 at the moment) and I have read enough to be sure that a different size in RAID1 isn't going to cause problems but are there other factors that should be taken into consideration? speed, brand, cache etc?

Any reassurances would really be appreciated,

Cheers,

-Davidson

I can't comment on the different brands being a problem, but I do have a 3TB Seagate drive working under alt-F.  Just be aware that the current version will have some trouble partitioning and formatting it from the gui due to a bug  in sgdisk. You will need to do the setup from the command line to make it work, not really a big deal.
