DNS-323 with fw 1.08 won't "accept" fw 1.09 & won't "accept" apps

Hello, I am new here. I bought a second-hand DNS-323 and would like to update the firmware to 1.09 and install the BitTorrent application. However, the NAS rejects the files that I download from ftp.dlink.com. "Failed" and "check the file" are what it tells me.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a solution?

Re: DNS-323 with fw 1.08 won't "accept" fw 1.09 & won't "accept" apps

Why not try 1.10 or 1.08?
What's the HW revision and firmware you're currently using?

It will not accept 1.08 or 1.10. I even tried an older version of the firmware.

Hardware version is B1.

Re: DNS-323 with fw 1.08 won't "accept" fw 1.09 & won't "accept" apps

and what's the current firmware version?
Maybe you need to install some compatible, older firmware version, like 1.06 before attempting to to install a newer version?

Corrupted downloads?

3 * (DNS-323 with 2 * 2TB) = 12TB Running FW v1.08 & FFP v0.5

That would be my guess.

Re: DNS-323 with fw 1.08 won't "accept" fw 1.09 & won't "accept" apps

(Current firmware is 1.08 -- mentioned in the title of the topic.)

I have download the files from ftp.dlink.com using Firefox on Windows and on Linux, as well as using ftp in a terminal on Linux. Same result -- the DNS-323 will not accept the files.

It seems I am not the only one:

Sorry, somehow missed that.

That's the upgrade path (1.08 -> 1.10) I made without a problem.
Can you use something like HashTab to calculate the MD5/SHA-1 of the firmware file. I kept a copy, and those hashes for my copy are:
MD5:    76C1B78651DD05B89035C04597C30742
SHA-1: C49E1651667A75D91B12ED872760147B1AFB7C48

Hmm. For dns323_FW_110.zip downloaded from ftp.dlink.com using Firefox 15.01 on MWXP, the hashes shown by HashTab are:

07B709B3 (CRC32)
C9F7E5D6DB405F1C45B23E01D720B4AB (MD5)
9A3F61728F56D73DE4D970B78D4771B6D24A8367 (SHA-1)

Re: DNS-323 with fw 1.08 won't "accept" fw 1.09 & won't "accept" apps

I posted the the hashes for the firmware file inside the zip file. I compared the hashes for the zip file and they match.
So it seems like the problem is with either the unit itself or with the process of uploading the firmware to the dns.

Did you try to reset to factory defaults before flashing?
Do you upgrade the firmware from a PC connected to the LAN using wifi?

Ah! My hashes match yours if I do the same. So how about if I try to upload the file *inside* the archive instead of the archive itself?

I AM AN EJEET.

The upgrade was successful. Thanks for your help and patience.
