netatalk 3.0.2

Hi fonz,

It's been a while since I last posted.  I have been having problems with my Time Machine backups from Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) -- affecting both of my MacBook Pro's.  Backups work for a while (a couple of weeks or so), then get corrupted.  When this happens, I delete the Time Capsule directory, then recreate the directory, then run a new Time Machine backup (the first backup takes around 20 hours over hard wire Ethernet).  I have gone through many of these "rebuild" cycles recently (I think at least 4 or 5 of these now).  I am currently running netatalk 2.2.1, but would like to move netatalk 3.0.2 to be on the latest branch.  In consideration, are you able to update netatalk to version 3.0.2?  (http://netatalk.sourceforge.net/)

If you are able to compile netatalk 3.0.2, I'll use this as an excuse to move from ffp 0.5 to ffp 0.7 (on all my DNS's).

Thanks,

Larry

Hello,

I will try to compile it and give you a package when it is done.

Fred.

Re: netatalk 3.0.2

Great, thanks!  Very much looking forward.  Since I have both a DNS-323 and DNS-343, are you able to compile* both oabi and arm?  Again, thanks so much!

* I am going to bite the bullet and upgrade all my DNS's to ffp 0.7.  Since it's a very long initial Time Machine backup, it makes to upgrade to ffp 0.7.

Re: netatalk 3.0.2

ARM package is built : http://ffp.memiks.fr/pkg/netatalk-3.0.2-arm-1.txz
you can add my repository with uwsiteloader
http://nas-tweaks.net/373/uwsiteloader- … _plug-0-7/

OABI package currently compile, I will give you a feedback when it is done.

Could you please test ARM package and give me a feedback ?

Thanks, Fred.

Re: netatalk 3.0.2

Have ffp 0.7, avahi 0.30, and the netatalk 3.0.2 installed on one of my DNS-343's.  I am running into an issue.  For some reason, the cnid process is not able to spawn correctly for inbound connections.  Not sure if this is the issue, but any ideas are welcomed.

Here is my new afp.conf file:

Code:

;
; Netatalk 3.x configuration file
;

[Global]
; Global server settings
hostname = CalleCapsule1
uam list = uams_dhx2.so
uam path = /ffp/lib/netatalk/
log level = default:debug cnid:debug
log file = /ffp/var/run/netatalk/afpd.log

; [Homes]
; basedir regex = /xxxx

[MacBook_Pro_2010]
path = /mnt/HD_a2/Data/Time_Capsule_MacBook_Pro_2010
time machine = yes
search db = yes
vol dbpath = /mnt/HD_a2/Data/Time_Capsule_MacBook_Pro_2010
appledouble = v2

And my afpd.log file is attached.

Re: netatalk 3.0.2

Hi memiks,

Thanks again for compiling netatalk 3.0.2.  I have confirmed that the cnid_dbd process exits immediately with an error message:
afpd[7009] {cnid_dbd.c:331} (D5:CNID): dbd_rpc: Error reading header from fd (db_dir /mnt/HD_a2/Data/Time_Capsule_MacBook_Pro_2010): No such file or directory

After searching google for similar errors, can you confirm that, before compiling, you configured with the --with-bdb switch?
See:  http://netatalk.sourceforge.net/3.0/htm … g-netatalk

Since the Berkeley DB is installed in a non-standard location with fonz fun_plug, I think we need to configure as follows:
./configure --with-bdb=/ffp/

Of course there may be other relevant switches, but since I have installed the Berkeley DB 5.2 from ffp 0.7, netatalk needs to be configured to look in ffp, not necessarily the default locations.

Thanks,

thebeck
