I just got the DNS-323, and I like it a lot, but it seems to have one huge flaw. Each time I power off the unit (holding down the front power switch until it flashes), my files are gone on the next restart! I'm using Firmware 1.03, and two new Seagate ST3320620NS 320 gig drives in RAID 1. I see the Volume_1 folder, with the .lpd print queue but no other files. I've tried touching a couple of settings in the web configuration, but still the files are not found. My web configuration is not lost after powering down.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

You got some sort of wierd problem - sounds like your files are not actually being written to disk, I don't use RAID1, but I did test in when I first got the unit and I had no problems with it.

Thanks fordem,
I finally figured out that one of the drives was bad. It's working nicely in raid 1 now with a fresh drive, although I'm not sure I trust it enough to use it this way without frequent backups. Now I'm doubting the usefulness of raid 0 or 1 at all. It would seem the better read performance with raid 0 isn't that useful since it's the network throughput that's the bottleneck with this device. raid 1 seems to merely give me the possibility of a faster and more complete recovery than from a backup, if it happens that a single drive fails. For now I'm going raid 1, a UPS, and frequent backups.

How did you figure out one of the drives was bad? Was there any indication through the DNS-323 software or did you have to pull the drive and perform diagnostics on the bare drive?
