Drive failure - struggling to find compatible replacement

Hi all

I have 3x 323s which have been running great for years now. The oldest one (probably 7 years old) has started emailing me that my left disk has failed. It is configured for mirrored RAID.

Now, I have just been to the shops to look for a replacement HDD and they only have SATA 3 drives, not SATA 2.

My question is, do any SATA3 drives work in the DNS323?

Specifically, from the very limited stock that this particular store had, they only had Seagate 1TB ST1000DM003. Has anybody tried this particular drive successfully? If not, has anybody had a SATA3 (not 3G) drive working at all.

Maybe it's time to bite the bullet and buy a new NAS altogether. Recommendations appreciated!

Many thanks,
Mordvinov

Re: Drive failure - struggling to find compatible replacement

I plan on running my current config as long as possible but with 4TB+ drives out there now I figure I will just upgrade a NAS or two when they start to fail. This doesn't really help answer your questions though.

3 * (DNS-323 with 2 * 2TB) = 12TB Running FW v1.08 & FFP v0.5
