Anyone try putting a laptop harddrive into a DNS-323? Supposedly the SATA interface on a 2.5" harddrive is the same physical layout as a desktop 3.5" drive. You would need to add some padding or something to hold it in place, but would this work? The slower performace of a laptop drive would not bother me.

The vfat 2.5 disk into the USB slot (bad performances of USB and 2.5 drives) ?
Later, a second 3.5 disk with a lot of tera ?

I was actually referring to putting laptop hard drives inside the enclosure. Using less power and creating less noise is appealing.

Whilst I haven't actually put a S-ATA laptop drive into my DNS-323, I can confirm that the interfaces are physically and electrically identical. I wouldn't suggest padding, but perhaps some form of bracket to hold the drive in position.
