I really like this whole back everything up to 2 hard drives (raid 1) attached to my network but I recently deleted some important photos and my wife was pretty ticked. I know there are programs out there to recover the data but I'm looking for something like the Windows Recycle Bin that will make accidental deletions easy to recover. I have seen this functionality advertised with other NAS's (http://www.qnap.com.tw/pro_detail_feature.asp?p_id=78) but I already bought this one.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated. And fyi- I am experienced with Windows but don't have any experience with linux programming.
Thanks so much!

As has been noted here before, RAID is not backup. It reduces down-time (one hard drive fails you still have access) but does not protect you from losing data due to human actions/errors...
You really should have a true backup system in place, for any photos/data you care about. Aside from accidental deletions, there are potential DNS-323 firmware hiccups, robberies, fires, simple human error (oops, I formatted the wrong drive) laying in wait to destroy your stuff.
I back up to a two separate drives regularly, swapping them every couple of weeks lately, and keep the one I'm currently not backup up to at work so I have an "off-site" backup. That's a bit too paranoid for some, but at a minimum you should be making a regular back up of the stuff on the DNS-323 to another hard drive, tape drive, etc.
Off soapbox...
