Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

I'm using my DNS-323 with both Macs and PCs under Windows.
Last week, I backed up some important data from one of the Macs (OSX Tiger) to the volume 2 (JBOD) of my DNS-323. Then I formated the Mac's drive so now the dats are ONLY on the NAS but ...
I've found that I can't anymore access to some directorys or file on the NAS !!!
I see those direcorys as single big file of sveral gigs (the dir content is less than a gig).
Since then I installed fun_plug and telnet:ed in a this is what I get :
?r-s--Trwx 44797 -3434158 -13774241801864245 Jul 26 1968 DIRNAME1
?r-s-ws--- 56590 16916865 -23495122331007500 Apr 15 2021 DIRNAME2
?rwxrwtr-x 30477 -3427076 40016571222225352 Sep 11 1963 DIRNAME3
(I replaced the real dir name by DIRNAME)
Is there a way to get back to those data or is it lost for ever?

Please help !
If I try to reset to firmware factory, will it format the drives? Or is there a chance to solve this issue?

Also, I'm French and using the 1.03 US firmware.
I've just checked today and now there is the 1.03 EU available.
May I take the "risk" to update my firmware to EU one? Will it ask to reformat the drives?

If it was me, I would take the drives out, connect them to a PC, and see if you can access the information on the drives.

is it possible with drives in JBOD ?
Also, my computer is running Vista 64bits. Is it possible to read ext2 with it?

I don't know about the JBOD question, but Vista can read/write ext2 drives - at least it does for me

Vista "out of the box"? No plug-in to install?
Thanks for the tip.
Ok, I'll give it a try this evening.

I'm using Vista ultimate and it works fine for me. I in fact formatted an external USB drive as EXT2 in Vista, and then connected it to my DNS-323. Both my PC and the DNS-323 can read and write file to the external USB drive.
