Great Media Player for 323 - XBMC
Hi there,
I have attached a modded XBox 1 to my network running XBox Media Center (XMBC). From this I can view my 323 as a share. I have all my media files on the 323.
This solution is fantastic to play any type of media from your 323. I have thrown all sorts of files at it and XMBC plays everything.
A great companion to the 323!

i second that, XBMC is a great media player as long as you dont want high def, it just cant do that.
If you did'nt know, XBMC can open a spanned RAR like it is a folder. It can then play any file in there and allow you to skip through the video with out having to cache the whole file.

Have been using XBMC for years - got the DNS-323 just for it....
My DVD library is stored as ISO images - XBMC will play direct from those - benefit - I am able to directly burn the image from the DNS box without haveing to convert....
XBMC rocks for non HD stuff.....

O - and if you have multi DNS-323 boxes (like me) you can add sources for all of them, then go into Library mode and it will pull the DVD from the correct DNS box automagically......

can you please explain taht?
I know in XBMC you can make a folder contain the contents from multiple folders, is that what you mean is is this something else?

All my DVD movies are .ISO images.....
XBMC can play direct from ISO images
XBMC - in the video section - you can have multiple "sources" - you will see these in non library mode.
upon going into library mode, you get like a card catalog system, genere, actor, year etc - xmbc will go to whatever source it was on when you ran the library index function when adding the source.
My setup pulls from multi dns-323 units
I have a 1TB setup for movies, another for music and a 3rd for pics etc

XMBC Update - New versions of XMBC are out and now support PC, Linux as well as Xbox.
HiDef is now supported as well as links to movie and music sites for info and art.
XP Windows version is in final beta with final version due October 2008.
This is the best Media centre client I have found for DNS-323.
I have built small form factor PCs with Windows XMBC loaded to sit behind LCD displays and gives me the Internet, Video Music and Picture access Ive been looking for since I started with media capable servers.
