Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Hi. I have a quick question. I recently bought the 323 and installed MLDonkey 2.9.0 right away.

I am getting slow connections and even not connections at all with Bittorrent. I have like 15 files pending (All of them are series seasons with nice amount of seeds (Even the mldokney shows like 800 sources for the one that has less sources) and even after running for a day it cant connect.

It only downloaded 80MB of 120GB that is in queue.

Anything that could be wrong or maybe I have to add some bittorrent servers/trackers? Edonkey networks seems to work quite fine.

Thanks!!!

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

The first thing I'd do blizzard is run porttest to check that it's not a firewall issue.

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Hi

Here is the first torrent "all_in_one pack" from me :

including :

- fonz fun_plug 3 (Thank you Fonz)
- mldonkey from shadowandy (without GD)
- downloads.ini from shadowandy
- mlnet.sh from shadowandy (Thank you Shadowandy)

install steps :

(buy the dns-323, buy your hdd, install you hdd, format your hdd in the dns-323)

download the two .rar file from my RS_folder

unpack

upload to your dns323 (to the root dir on volume_1)

restart your dns323

working (just the telnet access and mldonkey, all other features such as lighthttpd, rsync,etc... are removed)

You can access the mldonkey on "http://your_dns323_ip:4080" or with sancho gui.

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Hi craft.

Having an All in One (AIO) is really good! Thanks!

MLDonkey 2.9.1 has been complied. Those interested can try it out. According to the official changelog, there is better support for non-ASCII filenames and reporting of correct downloaded amount to tracker.

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Big Thank You to Fonz, shadowandy and craft

I have been toiling with this installation for a while without success.

I followed your instructions craft, and wow . . . (shouldn’t say this but) it works!
Now it’s a bit like being a kid with a new toy.  No more leaving my computer on overnight.

Downloaded two files with Sancho - no problems so far.  Next I need to work out how to leave the file uploading until it has upped at least 100 percent.  That, I think I can cope with.

How I would get the compiled MLDonkey 2.9.1 on board, I don’t know.  But I'll see if I can stretch the current version and worry about that when I need to.

Again thanks guys

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Oops, seems like I forgot to reply eno.

eno,
Yeap seems like you are using the correct way to kill the core. Perhaps it is doing some updating while you are killing it hence the segmentation fault problem.

Biscotte,
if you don't mind risking, download the zip package from my website and replace the mlnet in /mnt/HD_a2/lnx_bin with the lnx_bin/mlnet in the zip package.
Note: mlnet core must be stopped before you do the replacement.

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Craft: Thanks for the AIO package - helps a lot with my limited lnx skills :-D

I still have one issue I can't seem to resolve:

Ports ARE open through my FW, MLDonkey is running and using the MlDonkey web interface if I paste a torrentlink into the "DL" window it starts to D/L the torrent

But: For some reason I can't connect to any servers at all.....

- using the "search" option in the webinterface it just says I'm not connected, none of the list contain any servers, and trying to import a server.met file fails with a "unknown kind" error....

Any ideas out there?

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Hi!

I have a little problem with the mdonkey version from shadowandy. How can I enter the web interface, that runs now on Port 4080? Neither my standard loginname/pwd nor my root loginname/pwd works so far. Any ideas?

Edit:

In the file users.ini i read that the default username should be admin with a blank password. If I connect to the mdonkey server via telnet and enter

auth admin ""

i get the error message: Bad long/password. How can i correct it?

Edit 2:

I got it. It was my fault sad I entered the instructions from shadowandy my doing Copy & Paste. So i set the admin password to newpasswd wink

JackShepard

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Regarding the all-in-one -

Just wanted to let you know - I know absolutely nothing about linux, fun plug, etc. and your installation instructions worked flawlessly and I was able to get MLDonkey going without an issue.  It took me a bit to figure out the interface, but once I got the torrents going, it worked great.

Thanks!

Tom

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

i get virtually all of my torrents from mininova.org.  when i click on a torrent, my torrent client (bitlord) automatically takes care of the download (including resuming downloads).

my question is, if i install mldonkey, will it behave like bitlord does, or do i have to manually input the torrent file into mldonkey?  if not, what are the benefits of installing a client into the dns-323?

thanks.

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

You won't be able to set mldonkey (AFAIK) to download automatically in the way that BitLord does.  You'll need to copy the link target from mininova and enter the command "startbt linktarget" via the web interface.  There are many advantages to installing on dns, perhaps the most notable being that they'll continue to operate without any computers being on.

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

alternatively you can save the .torrent files from any website to
\\volume_1\mldonkey\torrents\incoming (or via telnet /mnt/HD_a2/mldonkey/torrents/incoming)
this path is automaticaly monitored to add torrents to the download queue.
if this path is availabe via your FTP server, you can remotely add files for download.

better still use sancho as discribed by craft below!

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

madcat,

thanks for that page. It really helps alot.

For new DNS-323 owners, you are in luck! Download MLDonkey Real Simple edition! It is around 3MB in size and what you have to do is to just extract the files over to your DNS-323 Volume1! *pss* It comes with funplug so it does saves you the mundane stuffs of setting it up.

Just extract, reboot, and viola! DNS-323 with funplug and mldonkey!

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Hi,

I'm using shadowandy's mldoneky light package. I got everything to run.
The only problem I have is that the download speed for a torrent is very low.
Usuly it is arround 5kb/s at maximum. When I use a different torrent
client on my computer I get much higher speeds with the same torrent.
Ports are forwarded correctly. Does anyone else has the same experience?
Maybe it is a general mldonkey issue?
