Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hi,
Firstly, a big thank you to Fonz for all the hard work on his fun_plug config. It's such a breeze setting it up. Now the innevitable request...
Is it possible for you to compile a version of lighttpd v1.5 for the dns-323? I know it's still in beta, the reason I ask is it allows use of mod_proxy_rewrite, which I think will enable me to use it as a reverse proxy. That way I can open up web access to the dns-323, and it can reverse-proxy to uTorrent on one machine, TV web interface on another etc.
If there's a way of doing that with v1.4 please point me in the right direction and I'll go and revisit my googling skills.
Once again, thanks for the work - having the little black box humming away serving up files whilst I'm at work is great.
Cheers,
Rob

Fair enough. If you do get the chance it'd be appreciated. I had a quick look at the latest makefile but quickly got lost, so can't shed any light on dependencies at the moment.

Hi,
I am new to the DNS-323. Bought it and had some files disappearing, so decided to search and found this forum. I am trying to install the fun_plug, so I copied the files to Volume_1\fun_plug and fun_plug.tar and rebooted the system. It's not doing anything. Did I miss something? I tried to FTP the files to / instead of Volume_1 but it says I don't have permission for that, so I tried on Volume_1 folder.
Thanks in advance for the help.

after you copied the folder and restart the dns323, did other folder get created? It should be something like funplug.d or something like that.
I had a problem where the fun plug did not install and it was because I touched the file inside Windows filesystem and I think the dns323 (linux) doesnt like that.
Try to unzip the funplug and folder right into the dns323 and then try again.
Also, what do you mean by files disappearing? Thats strange
Edit: I think you should probably open another post for this

Just to be sure: If after the reboot, the fun_plug.tar is still where you've put it, then you're right, it didn't do anything. Assuming that you've copied the files to the correct location, the problem is usually a corrupted fun_plug script file. So far, I've heard that WinZIP will corrupt it. If you've used WinZIP, try another tool like WinRAR.

First, thank you for the replies. I used winzip and this may cause corruption like mentioned.
Regarding the files disappearing, looks like they are still there, but not accessible by windows OS. It's a firmware bug that, according to other forums I visited, removes the permissions on Linux level. Not sure what causes it but I think this is D-Link's problem.
I will try to install the fun_plug again!
Thanks again.

Just to let you know that it's working now. I've just used winrar instead.
Thanks for the help and I hope to be in touch soon.
