Hallo,
today I received at work out DNS-323. I set it up with two Samsung SpinPoint T166 drives (with 320 GB each) in RAID1.
I connected the DNS-323 to a switch (LevelOne PalmCom FSW-0508TX) which us connected to our router (NETGEAR KWGR614 Open Source Wireless-G Router)
I use the Firefox as browser on Windows Vista (not the OS of my choice)
I set it up, connected to it, updated the firmware to the latest (1.03), did all the basic stuff, everything was fine.
I set up a test account and a test folder, everything was fine.
When I started creating all the needed accounts and folders everything went wrong!
When I wanted to connect a folder as network drive it either said the folder isn't there (despite I can see it in the explorer) or says the password is wrong.
It works like a charm when I set the folder to "read only"... but that's not what I want.
When I use the IE 7.0 to set up the DNS-323 I can connect to the folders but it doesn't matter which folder I connect to I end up in another folder which is always the same, looks more like the ROM or whatever, just something I shouldn't be able to see.
I flashed it back to 1.02 but no good.
Anybody got an idea?
On monday I want to call D-Link and if they can't help I will return it.
Could it be Vista's fault? Unfortunately we don't have any computers with XP and unfortunately I wasn't in charge of the IT when they bought the computers.

just a guess here and nothing more
1) your using the same login within Vista which has the same accoun on the 323? .. eg, in both devices, the same users & pass exist?
2) vista does not send passwords over clear text .. you may have to find out to do simplified passwords with vista
dunno, im just guessing .. i can see my shares on my vista box from the get-go

They use adifferent logins since I can't use the same as on Viste because the Vista username uses a dot in it and the password is longer than 8 characters.

I think that's not the problem. I said I get different results depending on which browser I use. If it was a password problem I would end up with the same result regardless of which browser I use.
Thanks for the input anyway
