Reformat discs to part RAID1, part linear

When I put my HDs (500Gb Samsungs) in my dns-323 the first time I was asked to format them. I then could choose to make two partitions, 1 with 200Gb RAID1 (200'2 = 400Gb) and one linear with the rest (600Gb).

I was happy with that, but after fooling around a bit before putting anything important on the RAID:ed part I decided to reformat the discs and start over.

Now the second time I can only choose to RAID1 all of boh discs or make them both linear.

Does anyone know a way to make part RAID1 and part linear again? Or do you have any advice against that?

Well, it seems like I could reformat like above, once I formated both discs to JBOD first.
