Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

I hate the idea of using this as a NAS (which is the reason I bought for) when if after a failure, I cannot take the drive out and read it in a dum Windows computer.
It would be great if I could just take the drive out and slap it into a external drive enclosure (or something) and USB to any Windows computer to mount the drive and access my backups.
Anybody???

Perhaps this could help.
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_NTFS_write_with_ntfs-3g
The only problem is I couldn't find whether it had the ability to format a drive as NTFS otherwise it would be perfect.

If your DSM-G600 disk is formated as ext2 and you are running WindowXP,
then http://www.fs-driver.org/ will let you read and write to an ext2 disk in WindowXP.
