status lights

hi there,

one of the 2 disk status lights is not flashing anymore though the gui tells me raid1 sync completed.

anyway to verify that only the light is broken or is the gui wrong and one of the two harddrives failed ?

thanks in advance.

Re: status lights

If a HDD has failed, you should see an amber light, and not a blue one.

Re: status lights

there is no light at all, i mean the light is dead neither blue, amber or any light at all.

mail alert is working (tested) but i haven΄t got one on drive failure.

there is fun plug installed but i don΄t have a clue if i can check with tools that both drives are present.

btw : thanks to fonz, great work !

Re: status lights

It seems that there are other reports of LED outages.  I have no LED on the right side.  GUI says RAID1 is OK.  Telnet says both drives are recognized.  If you pull the drive an e-mail is generated.  If you try to swap the drives to see if the LED outage follows, the array will not build.  I have given up worrying about it....

Re: status lights

My right-side LED has quit working!  My left-side LED is quite dim (not bright), but is still working/blinking.
Must be some cheap LEDs or a bad circuit design (wrong resistor value, or missing an in-line resistor for each side).  :\

Re: status lights

Both the left and right side LEDs have quit working.  sad
Does anyone know the replacement part number and source of these LEDs?  (US parts distributor/store)
Thanks.

Re: status lights

I emailed them and they asked to call in.  So, I called D-Link.....

They asked if I have downloaded/flashed in the newest firmware to make these LEDs work again!!!  :-|

Anyways that's a good idea... I will RMA it since they gave me the RMA/case number while on the phone.  This DNS box is still stock - haven't voided the warranty... so they will have to fix/replace it, etc.  Thanks.
