Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

I purchased mine several months ago, and its been working fine. I've accessed it through approx 10-15 computers, but i'm unable to do so on this one. For some reason, i cannot map the drive, see it on my network places, or get to it in any way which would allow me to access my files.
This includes the easy search (it doesnt see anything), manually mapping through XP's feature, doesnt show up in my network places either.
Good news? i can get to it through IP for the admin configuration. Nothing has changed on the DNS-323 since i last accessed it, and the only difference is on my computer, i had to install a new NIC card.
DNS-323 = 192.168.0.101 Firmware 1.02
PC - XP pro, 192.168.0.100
Easy search 3.5.000
I've went through this forum quite extensively, (working on it for past 6 hours). I've double checked firewall, AV, IP's, NETBIOS on/off, checked the recommended services, everything i can think of.
mapping it with a path \\192.168.0.101\Volume_1 results in an error message "The network path \\192.168.0.101\Volume_1 could not be found." This does ping cleanly however.
Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated
edit: Also, this shows up as an UPnP device. Only thing i can do with that is invoke the webpage management.

Slight update, after restarting, easylink can now see the device, but it cannot map it. I click connect, it brings up a password prompt, and after inputing the management password, it says "Failed to map drive"
Dunno why this happens, but it does not want to work..

I am facing the same issue. Then only way to map drive is either to remove DNS 323 password and use the classical "Tool - Map drive" from XP explorer or to use easy search utility to ba able to map password protected drives. In this last case, the drive does not reconnect automatically on network connection.
Has anybody an idea to be able to map a password protected drive without the easy search utility?

Make sure that the user on the Windows system exists on the DNS-323 and has the same password

I dont have to mess around with users/groups at all on any other computer though. I simply checked the all accounts box, and gave em read/write. Yet, it wont map the drive. its a confusing problem...
Thanks for your ideas everyone.
Edit: I've recently managed to get in through an FTP client, but i'd like to figure out what my the actual problem is. Any off the wall ideas? i'll try just about anything.

also, i thought volume_1 was for 1.03 firmware? you are on 1.02 so would this volume name be different?

I had the exact same problem as you. WinXP Pro, SP2. Able to access the box with the browser, FTP, ping, etc, but unable to map a drive, or see the 323 in the Network Neighborhood. This fixed it for me. Go into the network properties and make sure that:
TCP/IP Properties -> Advanced... -> WINS -> Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP
...is enabled. On my machine, the NetBIOS setting was disabled, and that was preventing the NAS to be visible. I also had to enable the Microsoft Windows Client, and File Sharing, but that's a little more obvious.
Once I did this, the 323 showed up the Network Neighborhood.

I just noticed you've already looked at the NetBIOS setting, so that's not going to be the problem. The only other thing I did during my troubleshooting is enable "Simple File Sharing" in the Tools -> Folder Options -> View panel in Explorer. I don't know if it is useful to do this, but it's another thing to look at.

Have you got this one resolved? Running into similar issue ...
Adding fuel to the fire ...
I have a desktop that is connected to the DLink, and it is on the same workgroup as the DLink (workgroup1), so connection is no problems. However, I have a laptop, that I also want to connect to the DLink when I using it at home, but by default is setup to connect to a domain (domain1 at work), and I cannot seem to login and access the DLink no matter what I try.
I can ping the DLink through its name no problems (after enabling it at Norton), and can browse to it using Explorer. But when I try to map the drive through Explorer, it goes into a loop and keeps asking me for login details even though I typed in the right user name/password combo setup at the DLink (this same account works for the desktop on the same workgroup1). I have also tried using the "net use" command (thinking I need to be specific with workgroup/domains etc), but am getting an "The specified network password is not correct" error (even though I am dead certain the password is the right one)? The command I am using is:-
net use n: \\DNS-323\Volume_1 password /USER:workgroup1\username
Using EasySearch I can see the DNS-323 and it's shared volumes, but when I connect to it using the user name, I get "Failed to map drive" error which doesn't tell you much.
Does it matter with the different workgroups??
Any clues??

Ok ... this seem to have resolved my issue, though it seems a little strange. I have created another user account specifically for the Laptop so it does not "clash" with the user account for the desktop. And now, it allows me to map to the DNS 323 no issues. Seems like it doesn't like two sessions from the same user accessing it at the same time, although I don't remember seeing this in the doco? Correct me if I am wrong ...
