hi there,
i'm a new user and finally managed to get the dns set up with my mac, however, now the thing keeps powering down on its own.
any idea what could cause this?

update: does not seem to have anything to do with time machine. bloody thing powers off even when tm is not used.

Does it power down completely - as in all the LEDs turn off and you have to push the power button - or does it go to standby - the square blue LED around the D-Link logo goes off leaving the power & network LEDs on?
The unit has a sleep mode - it goes to sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity ans should wake up when you try to access it.

powers down completely. no leds alight.
bloody annoying.

Couple of different possibilities -
1) The device is losing power intermittently
2) The device is defective

Hi George, just to let you know I am using it with time machine okay. I have the DNS set to power down the drives after 5 mins of inactivity and it does that okay. It also spins up whenever time machine does a backup so it sounds like something is quite wrong with your DNS.
Gareth.
