New baby - DNS-313

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/pimg/HD-002-DL_400.jpg

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … =HD-002-DL

1 bay SATA NAS, same features (minus raid0,1,jbod) as the DNS-323.

I have one here on my table.

Testing the funplug scripts right now....tomorrow i'll have he results (i hope).

I think the kernel is the 2.6.15. Working on ethernet (gigabit) and USB 2.0, same webpage as in the DNS-323,
1 x fan (40mm ADDA).

Re: New baby - DNS-313

The funny thing is that the funplug script working, but nothing else - can't telnet to the device (I think because of the new kernel....I'm not a linux guy)
maybe Fonz know the answer why...

Btw, the mldonkey core working fine ! smile

Re: New baby - DNS-313

Easy question with hopefully an equally easy reply.

Does it have a fan?

Having seen a number of devices that cook their discs, this is a requirement for any NAS on my system.

Ta in advance

Re: New baby - DNS-313

Some of the European Dlink sites have a product page for this unit already with a spec sheet pdf in english, but not the UK or US.....
http://www.dlink.dk/?go=gNTyP9CgrdFOIC4 … cRsO7dbA==

Craft, could you PLEASE give us more details, im very interested in getting hold of one of these if it is as powerful as my 323 (i.e. CPU memory etc..)

Many Thanks

Re: New baby - DNS-313

Yes, the same fan as the DNS-323 - ADA 40mm
Right now I'm using the device with my 160 GB WD - the temperature is around 48 C.

Two conectors on the back - 1 x giga eth. and one USB 2.0 - You cant use both at the same time.
The speed is okay, same speed over ethernet as my DNS-323, on USB a little bit faster - 700 Mb avi copy
from my notebook to the DNS-313 in Total Commander 19500 kbps - so not bad.

memory : 32 MB
230.19 BogoMIPS

I don't think it's the kernel, but the different CPU. Couldn't find any details about it, but maybe it's not armv5 architecture or not arm926 compatible.

Re: New baby - DNS-313

Wow. I am also looking forward to this unit to test if mldonkey works on it. Seems like it is working so thanks! Will be waiting for it to reach Singapore's shores. By the way, what is the price you got it at (in US dollars).

its a faraday risc.

Thanks for the pointer. There's the difference:

Code:

ARMv4™ 32-bit instruction set

funplug is compiled for armv5 instruction set.

Re: New baby - DNS-313

Re: New baby - DNS-313

I just bought the dns-313 And the ftp server is the shittiest pice of crap i ever seen. I figure it's the webui's fault that you cannot set basic ftp security. (one folder with write acces and one with read only. or making users mebers of multiple groups) i can telnet the device but it won't accept anny cmds.
is the hardware the same on dns-323 and 313 ? can i use 323 firmware ? if i upload firmware that brics the device can i reflash it with tftp at boot up as i you can with my wrt54g router ?
I don't want to be the first one experimenting and bricking the device. but i can't live with the terrible ftp support in the device.
is the kernel installed in flash memory and the system installed on the inserted harddrive ? if so it would be as easy as mounting the disk on my stationary computer and getting some toolchan that compiles stuff the right way and just put it on the harddrive putting it back in the unit and get ssh support and other usfull stuff so i can use it as a normal networked computer.?

Re: New baby - DNS-313

This may sound like a silly question, but has anyone here experienced problems backing up files to the drive? The supplied backup program (Memeo) and other backup programs (like Microsoft's Synctoy) all give me read/write access errors when copying files to the drive.

Tried using the default access rules and also created my own users and groups - no luck with any of them.

I can copy and rename files to it manually, but copying large files (> 15 GB) over the network causes the unit to disconnect itself from the network altogether. Can't access the drive again no matter how long I leave it, unless I disconnect it's power supply and then reconnect it.

It all works fine over USB though.

I've already tried replacing the unit once due to the same problems. Bought it from Overclockers UK.

Anyone else had similar problems? I'm using it with a Seagate Barracuda 750GB SATA hard drive.
