Switch problems

Hoping someone can help.  I was having some wireless problems so I bought a D-Link DGS-1005D Switch to connect my Vista PC directly to the 323.
For some reason I cannot view/find the device on the network.  Perhaps there are some settings that I have missed?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Switch problems

Did you check if they have the same subnets (255.255.255.0 or 255.255.0.0) and are they in the same workgroup if you are trying to connect to the network share.

Re: Switch problems

Because I have two network connections, wireless and onboard LAN - how do I configure the LAN TCP/IP settings for the 323 when I can't connect to it?
Also what settings should I use for the LAN to connect to the 323?

Re: Switch problems

You won't "see" the DGS-1005D on the LAN as it is not an addressable device. Make sure that you have a DHCP server in your network (like your router or modem), not just connect the PC to the 323 via the switch. To do this, connect your PC, modem/router and the 323 all to the switch. You should then be able to get to the 323.

As a test, when you have it all hooked together, make sure you can logon to your router and then check the DHCP table in the router for the ip address handed out to the 323.

With this set-up, there should be no need to make any setting changes on your wired port of your PC.
