Who decided to make the fun_plug file in /mnt/HD_a2 processed upon boot? That must have been a deliberate action by DLINK to allow people to extend the functionality? What is the relationship of that and Conceptronics? Has Dlink bought the design from them?

Engineering created the option for a Fun_Plug way of 'hacking' the device without bricking it. Remove HDD's or content and the device is back to default. Saves a lot of Returns and let the people play without all the hassle to hack the whole system ;-) ..
There no real direct relation between D-link and Conceptronic ..
