Edit the web source file to increase the password length or use the adduser telnet command.

how do I do that?

on telnet :
create user command : "adduser leftkidney"
del user comm. : "deluser leftkidney"

ok sorry but you gota elaborate on this one for me
is this what I need http://dns323.kood.org/howto:telnet or do I have to have a alternative firmware other than the stock firmware first
but really this is there a step by step tutorial on this
that says first do "this" then "this" and so on not a long wiki about how to do it, kinda like those Linux install guides for noobs that dont just say "ok now cd to the directory containing the file" it explains what cd is and mostly contains "sudo" commands that you can copy and paste in the terminal to get things done for you, kinda like on eof thoes for this

Yes, first You need the telnet access - read the wiki.
And after that - login to the device over telnet and use the adduser.... command.

it also says this is very risky and can "brick" the unit if done incorrectly
now I have modded iPhone's, XBOX's, PS2's, and had no problem with the WRT54G hacks
with that said all of those tutorials said the same thing about possibility of "bricking" the unit but I had no problem doing it and never "bricked" any of them, so is there something over complicated about this that I am missing?

Good evening everybody,
I want to buy also this obviously great device too:) However I've read often times about complaints concerning the password length and the unicode support - also for filenames. Are these problems already fixed by the latest firmware (1.05)? And, is it still necessary to use telnet command to expand the length?
You have to excuse me, but I tried to read so much information regarding the DNS-323 to be sure found the right device and ... in fact ... I found sometimes only old questions and related answers about different issues (e.g. RAID).
Thanks a lot!
Dennis
