Yes, but read this information:

*********************************
WARNING
*********************************
Read Before Upgrading Firmware.

New firmware for the DNS-323 often affects the way hard drives are formatted and the way files are handled.

To avoid potential complications and loss of files, please back up all files to another location before upgrading firmware.

Re: all firmware version needs backup before upgrade?

thanks, but question is another... if any have had data loss?

if yes, how did you discover data loss?

- some file missing?
- some files damaged ? (need to open to discover)

or other?

so, all backup and restore data after firm up. or tested some file to discover if need to restore.

P.S.

i think that not all firm up. inpact on data stored, so this disclamer if for d-link safety, so nothing can impute data loss to firmware upgrade...

Personally - no - but I believe that there are posts in the forum that document it, especially the 1.02 upgrade that removed EFS3

This was your question:
"someone have had data loss after firmware upgrade?"

an this my answer:
"YES, ..."

After upgrade from vers. 1.03b41 to 1.04b63 with RAID-1 all data loss and partition unreachable.

So why your question? First make a databackup and then the upgrade and your are on the safe site!

Re: all firmware version needs backup before upgrade?

did you mean ext3?

post this because on US site there is a warning :

This firmware is engineered for US products only.
Using this firmware on a device outside of the United States will void your warranty and may render the device unusable.

but, i think that many in Europe upgrade whit that firmware...

i know the problem if you were used ext3 (no more supported) instead of ext2 ...but seems unacceptable that firmware upgrade impact on stored data...

Ok, thanks,

I upgraded from 1.1 to 1.3 and the only thing i discover (now) is that the two share changed name..from Hdd_1 and Hdd_2 (JBOD and EXT2) to Volume_1 and Volume_2...

all data were readable (i think) i browse directories and opened some files...

this is my report...

my question for a reason? Now i can read data! but data loss may occurr later? or if i verify data after firmware.. and are readable, i can thrust that no data are lost?

but some situations (raid configuration) data result unreadable!

thank for your experiance on Raid conf.

Raoul

No I mean that I lost the data stored in the dns-323 after the upgrade. But because I did a backup before i copy all files back to my dns-323 after the firmware upgrade.

Because the datafiles in USA and Europe are the same, only the names may be different when others than englisch characters where used everybody in USA can use European Firmwares.

As a matter of fact I did - I knew something looked wrong when I posted
