Stupid mistake with ssh --> need help

Hello folks,

I've done the follwing steps:

1) Install fun_plug and dropbear and start
#sh dropbear.sh start

2) Then I set up an ssh root account with
#echo "root::0:0:99999:7:::" >>/etc/shadow
#passwd root

3) I successfully test my ssh access with the new password

4) Then I FORGET to store the password with
#/mnt/HD_a2/fun_plug.d/bin/store-passwd.sh

5) I reboot the DNS-323 and have now no root access....

Does anyone have an idea who I can access root or reinstall the ssh server?

Thanks for any hints

Re: Stupid mistake with ssh --> need help

I am a newbie to the DNS323 and linux, but everytime I screw things up I just backup the fun_plug file, then copy a new one for telnet according to the instructions on the wiki and so far that has always got me back in so that I can fix things! hope this helps.

Re: Stupid mistake with ssh --> need help

Hi lu,

thanks for you answer.
This was also my first thought, but the 00telnet.sh is no longer executable.
I changed the file for security reasons to "read only" ;-)

Now I'am high secured...

Greetings

Re: Stupid mistake with ssh --> need help

I think that I have read on this forum that you can change permissions using ftp - it not enabled can you enable via the web interface?  But why not untar utelnet-kit.tar.gz (link found on wiki page) in the root folder - that contains a telnet binary, fun_plug (need to overwrite the one there at the moment, so just rename your current fun_plug file), and starttelnet.sh - all you need.  It puts the binaries in lnx_bin directory.  reboot your 323 and away you go (I hope!)
