Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.
You are not logged in.
Befor you format them, try one more thing. With your drives in the DNS, change the firmware to 1.04. When new frmware loads, it overwrites the flash and puts everything back to original, in the case if you have a corrupted file on the DNS. It's worth a try.

Starting to backup my files now and preparing for format the drive.
Ok, in that case, as a last resort, unless somebody else wants to step in you can try just installing telnet (and not the whole ffp).
Download this file http://dns323.kood.org/_media/howto:utelnet-kit.tar.gz
extract the files to the root of vol 1
fun_plug
starttelnet.sh
extract the following to the lnx_bin directory which isn't there at the moment
utelnetd
busybox3
The paths to lnx_bin are already in the archive file, so the files should be placed in the correct location for you.
Use winrar not winzip, or if you can't then use tar or a gui equivalent in ubuntu. Make sure the files are chmodded 777 and chown'ed as with the ffp examples earlier.
See if you can telnet in. If ffp's fun_plug didn't work I wouldn't expect this to work, but for the short time it will take to try this you may as well.
Did you have any problems when upgarding the f/w to 1.05? You could try reflashing to 0.5 or 0.4 and see if ffp runs.

ok, now that you have ffp installed and working either secure telnet with a password, or disable it and enable ssh. Instructions for both are on the wiki. Putty is good for both telnet and ssh.
