Has anybody else experienced the graph line breaking out of the grid? I have just noticed that the temp line has broken out of the grid, gone through the day/date heading up towards the "DNS323 Monitor" heading. A redraw glitch with mine only?

No, I think it's a defect... not had time to figure it out yet but something in my crappy arithmetic!

well I haven't looked, maybe my 323 has melted!

@mealto: Okay, the question isn't bad, but luckily, you can simply open the gadget package with a zip program and read the source yourself. If you can't read it, you have to put your trust in the programmer, the folks in this forum or whatever other higher entity you might choose to believe in.
@philw: Thanks for your prompt reply. Could the LLTD error have to do something with my disabled UPnP? I guess rather not... Well, I'm still running my CH3SNAS with FM 1.03, 'cause I didn't dare to upgrade to an RC of the next version. So, maybe LLTD will come later...
I'll send you the code of the first page after login and the status page as PM. However, there does not seem to be an advanced status page, and the normal status page shows the "CH3SNAS" (which is not the device name here) only in the title.
Thank you for your great work.

Oh, and the status page (as shown on page 42 of the manual) only displays the user set device name...

Phil is working on a version that can detect whether the DNS323 or CH3SNAS is connected. Works great here. All the functions that are not available on the CH3SNAS are hidden in the gadget. No more LLTD 404 errors
If anyone with a CH3SNAS can figure out how to access the uptime through the web interface that would be great. It seems that all the /proc/ stuff in the gadget is not accessible on the CH3SNAS, at least not under that name. Would a symlink in the web directory to /proc/ be enough?

Well, there is no uptime in the stats of my CH3SNAS FW1.03.

Here you go - version 0.992 (I'm going to hit 1.0 soon enough), with added support for the CH3SNAS, which looks rather pretty from the icon I found for it. Get it here or from the auto-update thing which will find the same thing if you click it. I didn't change much else although I ran it through some JS Lint programs and stuff learnt about the === operator (which just reminds me why I really dislike js).
I can't absolutely test the CH3SNAS version as I don't have one, but RunaR helped me with the html and some diagnosis so it should work - please shout if not.
If anyone knows any other commands/ responses you can get over http then I just need to know the command and the response html to parse it.

As RunaR said, those are all disabled in 0.992. If you look in the source there's just a new field in the state table which is "disable if this is not a DNS323". I may have to extend that later but it works for now.

Thanks, but I got that from RunaR so it should work with the CH3SNAS now as abobe
cheers

I'm seeing the same thing here.

Sweet! No more error messages, as far as I can see. Only (cosmetic) issue is the "net" tab, which seems to contain more text than it has space to display. I don't really mind, though.
P.S. The CH3SNAS *is* simple, but beautifully elegant.

If you can email me (or PM me) a screenshot of that pane I can probably fix that. Maybe the CN3SNAS returns more data than the DNS323.
I was looking at google gadgets as it should be simple to port this there, and then you won't have to have Vista...

Hi there,
I didn't find the option to attach images to PM/mails here, so I'm posting an anonymized version here. Please note the MAC address, workgroup and share name are correctly displayed in real life.

thanks - looks like the MAC address is not quite fitting on the line, so it takes up two lines. I will look at that on my system in a while - just playing with something else at the moment.

Hi Phil,
Cheers again, your update appears to be working much better with the 2 separate disks, the temp appears as a nice yellow line on the graph, with space 1 and space 2 listed, but not graphed on the grid.
Also on the front page it has temp only (doesn't make sense), and uptime correct.
But the refresh now works! (without quitting)
I have included some screen shots incase that helps you to help me. Great work.
Cheers

Second screen shot if that helps,
and a third to come...

Looks like it's not handling your two disks correctly - it's failing to calculate the space usage, hence it can't display it on the front page or the graph. As I don't have a two-disk system I can't test that properly here; if you can mail me a copy of the html from your web-page's "status" page then I can test with that and then make it work.

Two disks working fine here (see screenshot).

Hi Phil
Just saved the status page and went to email it to you, when I turned on and off my wireless connection, then happened to look at the gadget and BINGO, it works, both drives AND temp working perfectly.
The only thing was that I haven't logged into my DNS web page for some time (I logged in to save the page for you), and maybe this "reset" something when I did?
At any rate it is fully functional, awesome work. My hat is off to you.
Perfect,

Jolly good - thanks for telling me. It looks quite pretty - that's a hell of an uptime you have there!
Logging into the web page... that's a bit worrying, but perhaps something just got gummed up. I have run the thing for a long time here across reboots and sleeps and it seems reliable, so if it doesn't happen again then I won't worry about it. cheers.

Ok, so the same issue raised its head.
Laptop - hibernated, taken to work, hibernated then retruned home and same deal with gadget, uptime recording, but temp and disks not (exactly as above again).
So 1. accessed mapped drive to cause unit to spin drives, - no change
2. Logged into Web DNS323 page - success straight away.
I guess because it draws info from the status page it relies on info that isn't there?? Even refresh didnt help until logged in.
Pity if I have to log into the unit each time, any thoughts about a way around it?
Anyone else having the same problem or it just special to me?
May be that the laptop is taken off site and returned, but the DNS is stationary, and stays on, now at 1000 uptime.

uptime is not updating. e.g mine says 0:1:41 despite being on most of the day (although laptop that the gadget is on was hibernating for most of the afternoon). Reloading gadget as well as refreshing as well as closing the gadget and then re-adding to sidebar doesn't change it, but calling the uptime directly in the browser shows the box is updating uptime e.g.
http://<dns-ip>/proc/uptime
1224177707.70 35523.17
and a little later...
1224178497.79 36295.64
graph:
as reported previously the line doesn't confine itself to the grid. Can this be because the grid is bounded to 20-40 deg (as the legend below the grid it says "temperature (20-40)"?
I haven't looked at the code to check either out, so .....

I uploaded 0.995 which fixes the graph issues this morning.
On updates, I think you're saying that in your installation even if you press the green "refresh" button, the uptime doesn't change on the display. Even though all the messages roll past showing the comms? That's odd... it definitely works on mine.

Clicking green refresh button, DNS323 Monitor, closing and re-adding gadget to sidebar doesn't change uptime. (All?) messages roll past, are 'in the green'/no red errors.
I am running v0.98

Try it with the new version? You don't have to uninstall the old one.
