automount

I am relatively new to the DNS-323, but I am a very user of Linux (since 1995).

I would like to use automount on the DNS-323 to automatically mount ISO image: to create a virtual jukebox, as described in Linux Journal a few years back (see http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/5639).

Anybody knows if this would be possible.  I do not know yet how to compile stuff for the DNS-323 (as I said, I am pretty new to the DNS-323).

look on the wiki for the how-to on cross compiling.  You may also want to install ffp and the relevant packages to allow native compilation on the box.  You will find lots of info onthe wiki and on this forum.  I am not sure on mounting iso as I don't use my 323 for that, but again on the wiki and this forum there are tons of posts on streaming and media players etc  I am sure your question has been asked before.

Re: automount

I was aware of the wiki to cross compile.  I am trying to set it up: I installed Ubuntu last week, and I tried to follow the instruction onthe wiki to cross-compile, but I cannoit even compile the toolchain: I obtain compiling errors.  I installed the package as instructed (sudo apt-get install gcc-4.2 bison flex gettext) and I got the http://tsd.dlink.com.tw/temp/download/3 … 052008.tgz file, decompressed it, and decompressed the file inside.

I tried a few times, and I do not get everywhere.  I may need to install extra package in the Ubuntu installation.

I will not post the compile error here (it would be too long), but I more or less gave up on installing the cross-compiler.

Even if I can compile the toolchain, I cannot even find the file discussed after the compilation of the toolchain (Use crosstools-env.sh, which is in [http://www.inreto.de/dns323/source/funplug-src-0.4-2007-11-21.tar.bz2], and fix the CWD variable to suit your needs.)  In the tar file in question, there is no crosstools-env.sh file!!!

Re: automount

I haven't tried crosscompiling myself ...yet.... but are you using the correct compiler - you mentioned 4.2, but don't you need an earlier version?  I think the wiki mentions 3.4.  Even if you have the correct version installed are you sure you are calling the correct version - a symlink may be pointing to the wrong compiler version (in which case point the link at the version you need for this).  You can always post long error outputs as an attachment to your forum post.  But there are lots of people on the forum who crosscompile, so hopefully they will be able to help you further.

Re: automount

You are rigth: you need GCC 3.4 to be able to compile: I found it out 1 hour after I posted my message, and I was able to compile the toolchain as instructed.  The instructions on the wiki for cross compiling mention gcc-4.2 before taking about compiling the toolchain, and this is wrong.  The wiki will need to be edited to reflect that!

But further down, when talking about compiling the firmawre, the info about GCC 3.4 is there (also G++ 3.4).

But the other problem I talked about (getting crosstools-env.sh) is still valid: I cannot find it in the link provided!
