What version of busybox/tar are you using?

Re: Trying to install optware, getting a tar error message

that may be why - you are using the busybox that is part of the firmware.  How are you connecting to the box, telnet?  If so how did you install it - ffp or as a standalone?  If you don't have ffp installed I would recommend installing it; it comes with a later version of busybox (my 0.5 version of fonz's ffp has busybox v1.10.1).  This may solve your problem.

Re: Trying to install optware, getting a tar error message

Thank you very much. I appreciate your help.  I installed the modified firmware, which has telnet.

But now, I'm not sure what I need to do?  When I tried installing ffp, telnet is already running, how would I remove the telnet from the firmware?

Do you know what I mean?

Uh, I got it. smile

I guess defaulting back to the original firmware works quite handily, then i installed ffp.

Works great.

Thanks for your help!
