Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

...mine does 100% when I do the refresh and I still get DLND 2114 error on the PS3 :-((
The share has 4500 normal mp3's and I cleaned up all the tags to remove "non-standard" charakters...
The build in UPNP-Server NEVER worked for me with neither 1.04, 105 and now 1.06. It's just a piece of shit!

And why you don´t use the fun_plug version 0.4 or how I do 0.5?

I am using 1.6 with my Playstation and it plays video files and MP3 audio just fine.
How do I get it to serve photos ? It doesnt seem to work. What am I doing wrong?
1. The Playstation is able to retrieve the mp3s and video from subfolders but it doesnt display the subfolders.
2. Photos arent displayed and neither is the folder names
3. my ps3 just shows [ps3 photos]-->Photo-->Folders-->mnt--> <empty>

I'm using 0.5 now..
..but earlier I didn't see the need for an upgrade with the potential to mess things up in a working config.

Well I was looking forward to this for the same reasons as most people it seems, better UPnP support for the PS3 and 360. What is bothering me here is that I have not really changed anything aside from upgrading to the firmware, and where my PS3 was working fine, not it does not work so I have gone backwards in my abilities. The PS3 gives me the same errors everyone else is seeing up above and the 360 does not see anything to connect to, as always.
Ah well, adding in the hamperings from Verizon on not letting me access my home network while I am at work the usefulness of this little device is waning. Maybe its just time I stuck the hard drives in my desktop and am done with it all.

I have the same issue with the 360, running the latest update 1.06. Anything I'm missing?

Using FW 1.06:
1. has anyone got the DNS-323 to serve Photos to a playstation 3?
2. how do you enable the sFTP on port 22? I tried connecting with psFTP and also tried changing the FTP port to 22 and i cant figure it out. the firmware notes say it is supposed to work.

SFTP is part of the ssh service running on port 22 by default, so you need to have this service running. Check other threads on this forum about it.

And wasn't sure if they had moved to a newer kernel or not in the final release. Looks like not. Thanks

Do you remember my issues with Ps3 sharing? Well I have resolved with fun_plug 0.5 and Twonkymedia 4.4.9 ;-) The DLink AV server just hangs on my NAS due an incomprensible error.
The PS3 DLNA support works because if I share another folder It's all ok, the problem resides in the refresh procedure witch stops leaving both disks (I have a RAID 1) blocked.
I hope in a next upgrade of the built in AV Server, for now I repeat I have resolved with Twonky.
Have fun(plug) ;-)

I thought 1.06's fix on UPnP files > 4GB would have solved the issue in which I cannot see .mkv files on my Popcorn Hour A-100, but still only .avi files shows up after upgrading to 1.06....

Thats wierd. Right after upgrading the firmware to 1.06 I am not showing DLink listening on port 22. Are you sure about SSH it running by default?

Hi.
Here are my findings on the NAS:
* Since I bought my Noxon (http://www.terratec.net/en/products/NOX … 16231.html) I have been streaming audio-files from the DNS323. However, pre 1.05 or so, the performance of the server was so extremely slow, that my noxon could barely make use of it. I have around 13000 files in 800 directories. After 1.05, things have been fine. BTW: the 360 was never able to list my files... (it says: "connection lost... something)
I was then very happy when I read that I could stream videos to my 360 with 1.06. Important to note; I have two DNS323's. One older 500Gig in raid 1 and a newer with 1TB in raid 1.
Once I had installed 1.06 on my empty 1 tera, I could stream both videos and music from it. While my old 500gig would still not work for streaming audios (as I had so many files on it).
So I tried to copy the 13000 files to my tera-drive. And same problem. Cannot stream audio to 360.
Sooooo. Noxon can do it. 360 cannot.
Problem is either on the 360 end or on the dns-end.
My guess is that the dns or the 360 only supports part of the protocol they use, or that there is a bug in the communication code. Could just as well be on the dns-side, as we see that ps3 users have the same or similar problem.

I've been using the DNS-323 in RAID 1 with 2x 1TB seagate drives and my PS3 since mid last year, it's been in "stock" standard form apart from firmware upgrades my experiences below;
Sorry guys I also can't recall which PS3 firmware was being used at the times but it's worth noting it does make a big difference.
DNS-323 Firmware 1.04 - No working UPNP functionality with my PS3.
DNS-323 Firmware 1.05 - PS3 now detects the device it just cant seem to do anything with it.
DNS-323 Firmware 1.05 + Latest PS3 update at the time - UPNP Works! I Can now stream video and music!
DNS-323 Firmware 1.06 + Latest PS3 firmware (current) - I can now view photos, listen to music and play videos through my PS3 quite seamlessly.
Things I've found while trying to get things working;
The way you "layout" your file structure is quite important, mine didn't really work well on 1.05 until I removed the default shares then setup a new root "Share" called Media with "Everyone Access" and "Oplocks" and then created three sub-folders Video, Music, Photo. (I keep my data in a seperate share called data). I then setup my new "Media" share as my UPNP root in the DNS configuration.
I've also found that the PS3 doesn't refresh properly, it caches the UPNP stream. This basically means that most new media I've added won't be seen by my PS3 until the DNS-323 has 1) refreshed the selected UPNP root and 2) After around 10 mins the PS3 has been turned on and off - this isn't much of a probelm for me as usually by the time I wan't to use the files on the PS3 it's been a day anyway.
I did get everything working on wireless however it needed 90% signal strength to watch movies and even then some larger movies tend to pause from time to time, it works great over 10/100 though.
Cheers, hope that helps!

Using FW1.06 my playstation3 wont play the XVid files that have OGG audio in them. Is this the playstation problem or is it a DLink transcoding problem? I think its the playstations fault. I am going to need to manually transcode the OGG audio and convert the files I think.

Hi, anyone knows if they updated the samba to version 3.2x? From the Samba release notes, it appears that 3.2x works better with Windows Vista and up.

doh... I've managed to find a ffp package for samba 3.2.3-1 under extra packages. Has anyone used it yet? Specifically, I'm after the advertised improvement in vista. Since I'm basically now running all my data off the DNS-323, any improvement in network access is much appreciated.
Update: just downloaded and installed the package. However, the startup script is quite bare and i didn't manage to find any documentation on how to set it up to replace the default samba. Fonz, some help here will be nice!
update2: Ok, managed to figure out how to replace the default samba and start it up (with errors though). Funny thing is when i checked the version, it still reports 3.0.24 which is the same as the builtin one! I'm pretty sure I'm running the one from fonz's package as TOP shows /ffp/sbin/smbd! Any ideas??

hi you all I am new to this forum.
I have a doubt , can I update my DNS-323 firmware to 1.06 using USA version even if my dns323 is european ?
On my own Country DLINK site the latest firmware is still 1.05 the one I am running at the moment.
Thanks !

the firmware does not support sFTP it supports FTPS and to be more specific it's FTPES there a difference between the two.

I am not sure about using the different update, I was in the same situation with f/w 1.05 and posted on the other forum - a few days later the new f/w then appeared on my country's dlink site. Coincidence? WHy not try it or send an email dlink via their support pages?

Yep - same thing here (with UPNP enabled).
I hope it's normal.
