Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Is now available.

Neat!! Can we get one for the 323 also?

Waiting on next stable release of 323 code before opening up a section for it. There are plans to have sections for each NAS product though.

This is some of the most interesting and exciting development I have seen from D-Link for the DNS
series in over two years
NFS server - EXT3 - S.M.A.R.T. - Scandisk - System / FTP logging
Wow, these are things the users have been asking about for a long time!
Apkg - Yahoo! Widget - FXP support
Wow, exciting new technologies and directions
And even a Beta code release forum.
Kudos, to whoever is responsible at D-Link for this new direction and to the development
team who is implementing these features (assuming the features work as advertised)
Can't wait to see how this new level of responsiveness is applied to the DNS-323!

Seems like an awfully negative comment for a section devoted to changes?

yeah, dlink keep churning out new f/w to their credit and provide the fun_plug functionality. I bought a photoframe (not dlink - not available in my country) with not very good firmware, the manufacturer (a large international consumer electronics company) hasn't updated it for ages (don't think they ever will) and their tech support doesn't respond. In comparison dlink is really good. Okay, so people keep finding problems, but at least dlink try and resolve some of them and develop the product. lets be constructive

Thank you for your reply.
It should be understood that the reason this beta code section is opened is to head off exactly what roth is complaining about. Instead of being non-constructive, go to the forum, download the code, install it and test it if you have the option to (meaning you have your data backed up). If you still see issues or want to request changes, do it there, in the beta forum that we are monitoring. That would allow us to review and make changes before the code goes live to everyone and in turn provide you a stable firmware that you are happy with and know what to expect in the official version.

Thanks, I'll head over there and check it out.
I presume you've already seen these issues: http://dns323.kood.org/information:known_issues
From my point of view the fan running all of the time is a big deal that is probably easy to fix. (I've got a shell script I run to fix it, but it would be much easier to fix in the firmware.) It would create some happier customers! The other big annoyance with this box is that the built in smb client does not preserve dates when you use the "out of the box" backup functionality.
Thanks for a fun, open box and the updates.

Could somebody post some screens from 1.02 beta firmware ? I'm curious how System Logging & FTP Logging were implemented. About S.M.A.R.T - is there some additional page where we can see detailed S.M.A.R.T report?
