hello,

I need some help setting up my nas 323 and transmission.
I followed the instructions here in the forum and wiki.

I have nas 323 with firmware 1.06 and transmission 1.52.

I installed funplug and transmission following the rules from here.

When I added some torrents to download (some of them um more than 10000 peers), transmission doesnt download anything and doesnt detect any peers.

in attach i send the configuration file and here is the logfile so you can try and help me out please.

I have seen the problem. it was not a NAS problem. it was the router that the ISP provided that had (and has) problems with port forwarding. change to a cable modem + my owner router and the issue was solved.

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

stalkingdemon,

you post shows your download directory is set to "\/\/Downloads"
which is incorrect.

if you run the following it should set it straight
leave transmission-daemon running, then:

> transmission-remote -w /path/to/download/folder

*don't forget to add -n user:pass if you are requiring creds.

you should see some output showing success or failure, after the success message you will need to remove the torrent, and re-add it so that it downloads to the correct location.  also note that you cannot change the download folder for a specific torrent using the CLI, running something like  transmission-remote -t num -w /path    selects the present torrent, but changes the system default download path, leaving the present torrent's download folder where it was.

im a bit confused at that part (im not that bright with computer thingies).

my transmission worked perfectly when i typed in the command you told me.
but when i restart my DNS 323. i will get the same error (no such file or directory)?

any permanent solutions?

we edited /mnt/HD_a2/.transmission-daemon/settings.json and chanced the path from there"

thanks for all the help guys! now im a happy user

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

Bobby wrote:

Not sure if this has been posted or not before, however since I started using this client to download torrents on my DNS-321, I've noticed that whenever I download something off Transmission and try to transfer the files to the PC (I make sure to stop the torrent and remove it) my transfer speeds are somewhat slow (Goes from 1.91 MB/s to 4.9 MB/s at most), but whenever I move stuff to the NAS and transfer them back to my PC I get the usual normal speed (10-14 MB/s).

So my question is, does this happen to everyone that downloads stuff from their NAS or is this strange behavior just occurring to me? Is there any way around it?

(If not, I'll just have to see it as a necessary evil to save some electricity at night.)

That is because of very strong fragmentation of all content downloaded by transmission. the larger file the stronger fragmentation ... You can workaround the problem simply by coping (not move) files to new location and then reset them for seeding again. Option  preallocation :2 doesn't help me much. So it is not possible to watch HD movie smoothly just immediate after they have been dowloaded and that annoy me greatly  .... sad

I write about problem at developers forum like feature request and several people uphold it ....
http://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtop … amp;t=7253

Finally developer asked for some information ... I don't understand exactly what about. I'am only novice at linux but assume that's something from compilation stage ...

Also, could you post the section of config.log where Transmission is looking for fallocate(), posix_fallocate(), etc?

Somebody give the information for Netgear's ReadyNAS ....

Dear Kyle sorry for troubling you but is it possible to give them similar information from DNS-323 ? I'm little worried they can make fix for netgear's case not for DNS  :-\

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

1.60b1 is out, adding file selection & prioritization to the web client (the ONLY feature that kept me downloading torrents to my PC)! http://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtop … amp;t=7525

Any chance of getting a build of this?  I attempted to figure out how to build myself...but could't get past a couple errors in the initial ./configure step tongue

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

Nothing important changed in the webgui, the Remove Data working now, and at the Inspector you can see
the file list.

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

Apparently it adds file selection & prioritization, which is absolutely crucial

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

Kylek, is it normal when typing "transmission-remote -l" gave this message?
root@dlink-0A78F3:/mnt/HD_a2/ffp/var/scripts# transmission-remote -l
[00:14:33.785] JSON parser failed at line 1, column 1: "<h1>401: Unautho"
[00:14:33.789] transmission-remote: Unable to parse response "<h1>401: Unauthorized</h1>Unauthorized User"

DNS323 + 2x1TB WD GREEN + Fun Plug 0.5 (Fonz) + Transmission 1.92 + Automatic 0.6 = GREAT!
Looking for Auto Direct Download script if possible smile

You have authentication turned on. You should use the -n option like this:
# transmission-remote -n username:password -l

For 1.60, be aware of http://trac.transmissionbt.com/ticket/2030

in the last post of the page they say the error as been fixed.
The Fix is in milestone 1.61

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

Hey guys,

yes, I was on vacation for 2 weeks. Did I not mention that? I'm sorry, I totally intended to post something. 1.60 is compiling right now, but I still want to go through the changes and see if any issues crept up. I'll keep you guys posted.

Re: [REL] Transmission 1.3

Hi,

I use the latest version if Transmission on my DNS-321. It worked fine. But recently I found that torrent uploads take whole connection channel resources. For example, when Transmission is stopped the ping to some external server is about 42-45 ms. But if Transmission is up the same ping is 200-300ms. I have 10 peers, 50Kbs upload and 500Kbs download limits. Any idea why it happens and how to solve that?

TIA

Cheers,
Michael

Should be up again. I did some server maintenance (and might have to do some more tonight/tomorrow), so if you find the server down just try again a bit later.
