Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

I've spent the last several days scouring the net in search of a good, clear-cut explanation of how to do this, but I'm still more confused than anything (I bet I could hook up an external drive to it now, though ). I DO have fun_plug installed, and I DO have SSH access, but that's about as far as I've gotten. Could someone please help me?
The two printers are a Brother HL-1430 and a HP Photosmart 1215 (which, as far as I know, aren't GDI printers -- which is less complicated, right?) on a USB 1.0 hub.
Here' my dmesg:

So how do I set up the NAS to make these printers available on the network?
(I'm also trying to get a scanner to work on the thing, but don't want to overdue it with my first post )

Wow, I really didn't expect this to be such a challenging, or even unique, problem. Surely there are others who have managed to run more than one printer off of the thing.
Anyone?

How about chrooting debian and using cups?

Whoa! I guess I really underestimated what all is involved to do something like this. It looks like I'll have to spend more time with this than I anticipated. Unless someone knows of a simpler strategy, I'll start slogging through the debian and cups material to figure out what I need to do. (That Belkin usb hub over lan is starting to look not so expensive, afterall... )
Thanks for your suggestion, Bever!

Well, I don't know whether anyone has compiled cups to work with ffp yet... Or maybe there is a way to reconfigure the lpd to support two local printers. Adding them both to samba would be cake afterwards.

You have cups for optware. Haven't got any experience with it though.

OK, thanks for all the tips. If I happen to find a good procedure for doing it, I'll be sure to share it here. Cheers!
