Hi All. recently purchased one of these NAS boxes and i have everything running on my home network. The problem is if i am trying to access this unit remotely with my host name i get the admin/download login page.
If i do a search using e.g ftp:// host name.com i get to see the files, but can only download the files. there are no passwords associated with the files and therefore i am not sure how the network access settings are supposed to work. the settings are also set for read and write but i can't do this either.
never the less should i say that the 4-5 hours talking to the tech support has only encouraged me to return the product to point of sale. tech support have been almost useless and its understandable as they read off a script.
are there any suggestions please as to what can be done or if there are any tricks to this set up

do a search on this forum for openvpn, you can also check and see if you have a vpn router/firewall. You probably don't as you need to pay much more for those so would probably know if you do have one, but you don't need one of those if you are using openvpn!
ftp permissions are set via the webgui, but note that it is unsecure ftp (I think that they may be changing this in the current beta f/w, but I am not sure and haven't checked)
