how to turn off dns 323 without power button. Script? Batch?

Hi, is there a way to turn off dns 323 without power button? I think about a script I could send from a windows machine after backup as been completed? A batch script or anything else?
Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thank you.

It can be done with a script that creates a file with a specific name, in a specific location - unfortunately I can no longer remember the name or the location - you'll need to search the forum - it is in there.

Re: how to turn off dns 323 without power button. Script? Batch?

you can also use PhilW's vista gadget (if you are using vista, but I think that there was another post on how to get it working on XP).  At one point I had a .html document on the desktop which would simulate a web form submission (POST).  Both of these methods work by accessing the web interface and simulate a click of the 'Shutdown' button.  If memory serves, dlink changed the f/w so that you can't 'click the button' without first logging in to the web interface.  I think that my html (which I don't have any more, but it is trivial to rewrite) worked on f/w 1.05 or 1.06.  The vista gadget works with the latest f/w I believe.  In the scenario that you give you wouldn't be able to use the latter method, unless you can call them via say windows scripting.  There is another method I think (again from memory) - somebody here posted about using a version of the putty 'suite' which can be run to login via a batch script and then pass commands to the linux shell - this example included the command to pass to shutdown the box, so all you do is run a batch program or double click a shortcut or batch file from windows.  This may be what Fordem is referring to.  In order to use this last method you would need a telent daemon running on the dns323.  FFP from fonz is perhaps the easiest to get going and you get lots of other goodies besides telnet, you could look for the how to on ffp, remember telnet is insecure though.  Once installed (ffp) you can enable ssh (secure) and disable telnet. hth
