swap drive(s) into usb enclosure(s)

i currently have two 500gb drives running in raid1 and will replace them with two 1tb drives in raid1

with the current drives, i'd like to simply put them into enclosures and read them through the ubs ports

possible? if so, any cautionary steps/procedures?

i'm running ubuntu jaunty

any help is appreciated

yes, possible.  I have done it.  Done it both in ununtu (HH) and in windows using the ext2ifs driver.  I would suggest mounting the drive R/O.  In both cases though I pulled the drives and inserted them into the desktop not enclosures.  If you have raid1 you only need to pull one drive (RHS) unless you are not confident that they are in sync, as if they are then both drives will contain the same content.  Be careful when inserting the new drives, if you still have one of the old drives in (the 323).  Pay particular attention to the formatting bug where the 323 will format the wrong drive.  Not an issue if you are inserting the new drives and then formatting them/setting up raid together.  I think if memory serves I had to specify that the fs type was ext2 when I mounted them.
