Getting started with Linux

polishlinux.org started an article series about Linux: "The Linux Saga"
It's a nice read and may interest both new and experienced Linux users. Here's the first two parts:
  http://polishlinux.org/linux/the-linux-saga-preface/
  http://polishlinux.org/linux/the-linux- … trd-sys-v/

Also, yesterday, EnricoM suggested a book to get started:
  http://www.amazon.com/Debian-Linux-Dumm … 0764507133

An online book about Slackware is available here (chapers 8 to 16 seem most relevant):
  http://www.slackbook.org/html/index.html

Feel free to add your favorite tutorials, books, etc.

There's excellent information at these sites. Could you make the message Sticky so it's easier to find at a later date.

Re: Getting started with Linux

Modify User Permissions http://www.webmonkey.com/tutorial/Modif … ermissions

File permissions on Unix and Linux are one of the most ubiquitous stumbling blocks for even regular users of those operating systems. The intricate structure of which users on a system are allowed to do what is one of the foundations of Unix, providing security and interoperability, but at times it can make working with the system a pain. Here's a look at how permissions work and how to work with them.

I, personally, am very fond of http://linux.die.net/
You can find tutorials, plus exercises here: http://linux.die.net/Intro-Linux/

I, usually, use this site as my go-to online man-page source: http://linux.die.net/man/

DNS-323 HW Rev. C1 FW 1.10 fun-plug 0.5
2 x WD10EARS-00Y5B1 in Standard mode (LCC set to 5 min; Aligned to 4K)
