Built-in UPnP and WMP 12

I am not able to access uPnP content from my DNS-323 FW 1.07 from a WMP 12 on Windows 7 64 bits. I get following error:

"The remote media library did not allow the connection."

Searching the forum I found these posts with exactly same problem:

http://dns323.kood.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=33970
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=9697.0
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=7325.0
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=10056.0
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=992.0

but I don't find any final statement.

1.- Is NDS-323 uPnP server failing? Or is it WMP 12?

2.- Has anybody such configuration working?

Thanks in advance,

  Chemi.

Re: Built-in UPnP and WMP 12

I do have this same problem and from what I've read, it seems if you turned off itunes server, the upnp works again.
For me, I just use mediatomb.

DNS323 + 2x1TB WD GREEN + Fun Plug 0.5 (Fonz) + Transmission 1.92 + Automatic 0.6 = GREAT!
Looking for Auto Direct Download script if possible smile

microsoft (windows media player, xbox360 etc) is a epic fail when it comes to upnp. both client and server.

Re: Built-in UPnP and WMP 12

I have iTunes disabled.
What I read everywhere is: use MediaTomb or Twonky.
But I was trying to find out which piece is failing (DNS-323 uPnP or WMP 12) and if there is anybody with such combination working...

Thanks,

Re: Built-in UPnP and WMP 12

Thanks oxygen. We crossed both postings.
So if WMP 12 is the problem I don't understand why everybody comment as solution to install Mediatomb. What I should do is look for another uPnP client. Right?

Thanks,

   Chemi.

Re: Built-in UPnP and WMP 12

Well, for other clients (PS3 often mentioned) mediatomb works better and has more features than the builtin server.

Windows Media Player as Client + mediatomb as server is fail too.

on a PC/Notebook i dont see a need for a UPNP Client, i just open the files over the share instead.

Re: Built-in UPnP and WMP 12

Thanks oxygen. I see what you mean.
Are you aware of any difference in performance when streaming over HTTP versus remote shared unit?
I will try to test both... but just curious if you have tested already yourself.
