Format incomplete

Just purchased the DNS-323 with 2 WD4000YR (400 GB).  I upgraded the firmware to the latest version and I tried to format in RAID1.  It only leave me the choice of formatting 148 GB.  It basically does not see that it's a 400GB drive.  I tried anyway to format and while it hangs for a couple of seconds at 94%, format does complete. I checked the status and indeed it says 148 GB.  I tried to use the drive and it is working fine.  Thinking that one drive could be bad, I then took one and formated the other one by itself ... 148 GB.  Did the same operation with the other drive ... same result !  I could not find one post related to this issue.  Anyone has an idea ?  Help is GREATLY appreciated.

Please use the search function! It's a known problem, no need for another thread. See,e.g.

Re: Format incomplete

Like I said mine does complete and say SUCCESSFUL 100% !  I spent a few hours looking for the EXACT same problem but could not fine anything.  We are only helping each others here so I don't think there is a need to be aggressive.

Sorry, missed that part. I haven't heard of that specific problem before. Problems with various disk models have been reported before, though, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's just another incompatible hard drive. There's an 'official' list of supported drives somewhere on a dlink site. Have you found/checked it? If it's not on the list, I think the least pain for you is it to try a different model. There's a thread about working disks here: http://dns323.kood.org/forum/t131-What- … NS323.html
