How does this relate to the firmware version 1.04b58 posted the day before this post by member Tilly?
Both claim to fix the 94% format error. I think they both address the Vista issues.
1.04b58 doesn't mention anything about the NFS module or PS3 problem though.
Is 1.03(BETA) a custom firmware? Can we get the NFS module for 1.04b58 via fun_plug?
Thanks!

In short: Conceptronic & D-Link do follow their own path for features and functionalities.
Conceptronic has released last 3 weeks about 4 firmware versions in the 1.02 range all focussed on fixing bugs for MassProduction.
The 1.03 is the start for new features and other items.
The 94% bug was supposed to be fixed but was somehow re-introduced. It seems that it has to do with pre-formatted HDD's ..
So yeah they (Conceptronic and D-Link) share certain features and need to fix same bugs if they do exist
So for Conceptronic it's important to have some features added and stuff modified as their customer(s) do request it.
So some time I belive Fonz asked me if I could add NFS module part: took me lots of effort and persuading to get it done . but it's in it now (not tested though, as I do not have fun-plug installed yet.
Same applies for PS3: customers of Conceptronic ask for it, so it will be implemented.

Conceptronic is activily making firmware, that's 1 thing you don't see much. So i am still very happy with my CH3SNAS, and possible will buy a second one :-)

Does it also come with portmap and nfs-utils? If no, I've added nfs-utils to my funplug. I've made a 0.4-test version is available for anyone who would like to try this out.

Hi, without trying to look too dumb here what will installing the NFS module give me over SMB? Does it actually act as a replacement or does it just allow external devices to communicate via an alternative protocol?
What is the benefit?

as info is lacking
took a linux box, tried a mount 172.20.0.43:/mnt/HD_a2/ test
and got this in my syslog
Nov 21 16:33:51 nas daemon.notice rpc.statd[2399]: Version 1.1.0 Starting
Nov 21 16:33:51 nas daemon.notice rpc.statd[2399]: statd running as root. chown /var/lib/nfs/sm to choose different user

on the linux box I get various time-out errors but ..
finally went into my /home/test folder and got the folder info from my CH3SNAS ..
WOW .. getting geeky ..
no idea if this is the goal finally but hey i got some things like syslog and telnet working <Grin>

That one looks strange and probably means that a portmapper is already running. You're not running unfs and nfs at the same time?

I think so ;-)
i did not see any guideline and I am just a stupid developer trying to test features people request ;-)
I am a geek, but in learning for linux ;-)
but I could mount, I saw with ls -l the files .. could browse the folders..
Hey my customer(s) can be happy ..
LOL
oh b.t.w. CH3SNAS = Black Box .. you will notice from December ;p)

Hey zeroday,
can I request WOL feature? This is an essential feature, a must have!
I'm using my NAS once a week for backup, thus having it powered down most of the time. I've placed it in the basement while my desktop is in the 2nd floor. I don't want to run down every time I want to use the NAS...
Any chance to get it implemented in one of the next FW updates? It shouldn't be a big deal to do it.
Thanks, ollo

Thanks zeroday, I appreciate!
By the way, is your 1.03beta the same like that one:

I've only had the box for 2 days but it's already proving to be more useful than my HPMediavault due to hackability.
Your fun_plug v1.04 was downloaded and installed in under 15 minutes. Following your instruction it worked flawlessly. Thank you.
With the fun_plug add-on, USB storage support (Thanks to ??? .ko), and the possibility to hack further than the HPMediavault I'm liking it.
Anyone know either of the following answers?
What is the highest supported drive space allowance? The HPMediavault tops at 1.25 to 1.5 terabytes, including USB connections. This was explained as a ram limitation at 64meg. As the DNS-323 has the same amount of ram are we limited to the same cap? (HPMediavault uses a moded BusyBox distro.)
Again, thanks for your time and scripts. This site was the main reason I took a chance on this low cost NAS. So far I'm not sorry.

my beta is mainly the 1st to be released to the public. The firmware you mention there is when it's verified that the version CAN work ..
Tsjak!

I believe only the module support was requested ;-) so no other tools are avail I believe. At least it's not running.
Tjsak!

WOL feature is impossible due to design of Hardware. There are some components not onboard to make WOL possible.
Sorry ..

what do you mean, zeroday?
Any clue as to when the new CH3SNAS will be available?
It seems the older revision is hard to get by, at least in Germany, and I've already ordered the device.
I hate waiting for gadgets

That's great to hear, thanks for the info.
Fingers crossed I'll have mine next week.
